The reason SAP customers are clamoring to pull in IBM's DB2 is clear: it provides exactly what the enterprise needs, expects and wants and the return on investment is even clearer.

One of the 700 SAP clients now using DB2 to improve performance while saving money, and gain greater efficiency in business processes, is Banco do Brasil.

Banco do Brasil has 6,000 locations in Brazil and offices in more than 20 other countries. The bank provides traditional retail banking services, investor portfolio management services and markets analysis and research.

With the performance of new DB2 10, Banco do Brasil will be able to handle increased workloads faster than ever. The technology also provides the bank much-needed room for future workload growth such as the emerging trend of mobile banking, while simultaneously reducing the cost of sharing customer data across IT systems.

In addition, Banco do Brasil expects to cut power consumption and storage by consolidating database management systems. And that will bring a nice ROI.
