IBM i Reduces Risks, Makes ERP Management Easier

While cost is always top of mind and while IBM’s i POWER7 processor-based Power Systems servers now make Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP system affordable for any enterprise, it’s also the allure of reduced risk and complexity that will prompt a move to IBM i.

Why? Well because IBM has eliminated many of the longstanding headaches that have been attached to ERP deployment and use.

The IBM i systems have been pretested by both IBM and Oracle which reduces the work required to manage fixes and apply updates.

There is exclusive support featuring JDE experts on site at IBM, and IBM i experts on site at Oracle to help customers. That means less back and forth in assessing and correcting issues and much faster problem resolution.

It also means less downtime and less business interruption when an E1 system goes off kilter.

No one wants business operations impacted at any point, so the ability to have a team support environment is amazing, and likely something few, if any, other technology-collaborating vendors provide.

IBM has built the systems to be as simple as possible to deploy and manage and reduced the technical complexities that often frustrate IT teams in ERP efforts.

IBM says, the challenges facing midsize businesses today are daunting enough. There is no need to add to them.

Even the lowest-cost IBM i platform also offers the lowest risks, specifically around deployment, availability and security and malware.

The stability and integration of the Power systems with i environment are reinforced by highly granular, automated installation and start-up procedures.

As today’s enterprises are typically 24x7 operations, the impact from risks is greater than ever. So why wouldn’t a company want a system that promises to do more than any other system in reducing that aspect?

IBM says experience among E1 users has shown that Power systems with i availability levels are typically higher - by wide margins - than for Windows and Linux servers.

That’s because the systems are stable and resilient, and incorporate features that minimize planned as well as unplanned downtime.

Stay tuned to find out how IBM i mitigates security and malware risks.
