Where IBM/Oracle Shines On

There have been reams of words strewn across the Web and inside tech and business publications about what is happening with database players and lots of pundits professing to know how it is all going to play out when it comes to databases and data systems.

But let's face it, only the future will tell the story. Yet I skim and scan whatever comes along in my RSS feeds and news alerts. In catching up on both today I was finally rewarded for my efforts when I caught Rob Enderle's recent Datamation column: "Why IBM, Microsoft and SAP Like Oracle's Apple Strategy With Sun."

It's such an excellent opinion piece, written so clearly and succinctly, that I was compelled to share it here.

While Enderle's entire column is worth an attentive read, it's the second half of his piece that jumps out and explains in very simple terms why an IBM-Oracle combination is as powerful a technology as ever.

The best nugget is short and sweet. It's Enderle's marketing suggestion for IBM and just simply states it like it i :

"We Like Oracle's Future, You can Buy it at IBM Today."

Thanks Mr. Enderle for cutting through all the marketing chum swirling in some industry columns and for sharing your intelligent insight.
